No one selling legit on Ebay just has to get rid of their computer so badly that their willing to take an $800 dollar hit unless the product is damaged, a lemon or in most cases, fake and simply a scam. Also, keep this in mind- If it seems too good to be true, then it most likely is. Also, in my experience you're more likely to get a more sound computer when you purchase refurb, because any problems that came up initially have been fixed with new parts. You get all the documentation, software and hardware that would come with a new computer, just in a plain brown box. The refurbs are cheaper than new(usually by at least $200USD or so), but are in like-new condition. I've never bought a new Apple computer, and to be perfectly honest, don't know why anyone would. The number of scams, especially when involving high-value items like laptops, turned me off the entire experience, so I went back to the old standby, and bought a refurb.

When I was looking for a powerbook a year or so ago, I checked into Ebay.
